Synbad the Sailor

“Sailor”

This little 14.2 hand Arabian-Quarter cross was all heart.  Early on, he preferred to be ridden bridleless, so this skill was finely turned.  He was purchased as a yearling, and lived to the age of 21.

He was the first horse 4 year-old Marci rode, and later became our most dependable mount.  Sailor behaved the same at home, along highways, or at fancy horse shows.

Sailor was the protector of the more submissive horses, and kept young horses out of trouble.  He loved cattle work, and his last job was ponying yearlings at a training facility.

Sailor passed away quietly in his field July of 2004.

Chubby Slippers

“Charlie”

Charlie was the dream of a young man.  The Quarter Horse was carefully chosen from thirty horses, and purchased with Maurice’s savings.  He was the first horse Maurice, then in his 30’s, owned.  He was a big chestnut quarter horse, who had been a roping horse, and pleasure show horse in his younger days.

Charlie’s new job was teaching the Jennings family to love horses.  The herd of one quickly became many, but none ever as special as him.  Charlie traveled to New Mexico for camping trips, parades across the state, and countless rides on the Buffalo river.

He was retired in his late 20’s, and quickly bonded with our broodmares.  He carefully watched after his “harem”.  Sadly, Charlie was euthanized in 2002, at 34 years of age, due to health complications.
