Our History

Welcome to Three Bar J Appaloosas.  We began with

twenty acres in the mid-1970’s.  This small plot of land

has grown to two-hundred and seventy-six acres. 

 

Our first Appaloosa was purchased in 1995, with foals arriving spring of 1996.  2005 marked our tenth year of breeding and raising quality horses. 

 

Besides our Appaloosas, we have a few grade, and quarter horse geldings that we use primarily on trail rides.  These horses helped us to envision the program we have today.

 

Impressive Daisy was shown by Marci when Daisy was a two, three, and four year old, and was very successful in earning Grand Champion and Reserve Titles, including National status in the ACAAP program, and AApHC Championships. 

 

We have kept a few quality broodmares, and taken full advantage of artificial insemination to breed to top quality stallions.  Our goal is to raise high quality horses that have the conformation, and the ability to perform.  We also breed for gentle dispositions and striking color patterns.  Our horses have gone on to show, breed, become family pleasure horses, and most importantly form strong bonds with their owners.

 

Marci recently moved to Davis, California to attend graduate school at the UC studying equine reproduction.  Due to this move, we have decided to decrease our numbers.  Our mares are taking some time off, but we plan to breed in 2007!  We look forward to our next foal crop!
